'Wuthering Heights'

This collection was inspired by not only the wild and rugged Yorkshire Moors where 'Wuthering Heights' was set, but also the themes of longing, yearning, isolation and destruction. I wanted each painting to have a visceral and raw impact on the viewer, as the story itself had on me. I wanted these landscapes to also pose as a reminder that there is always beauty in chaos and discomfort and that it's all about perspective. The colour palette I chose for this series was a combination of 3 colours; Ultramarine Blue, Alazarin Crimson, Yellow Ochre, (and Titanium White). I felt these colours really enabled me to bring the rustic and baron feeling of the moors while implementing the cold and gothic tone of the storyline.
